The singer said: ”It was an immediate ‘yes’ for me as soon as I heard it was Dr Seuss. It goes back to the original core of why I wanted to write music and tell stories.”
The film comes from the creators of ‘Despicable Me’ and follows 12-year-old Ted while he searches for a real Truffula Tree for Audrey. He must learn the story of the Lorax from the bitter hermit known as the Once-ler.
Taylor will be co-starring alongside Zac Efron (Ted), Danny DeVito (Lorax), and Ed Helms (the Once-ler), but she admits she didn’t see much of the star-studded cast while making the film.
She told Collider.com: ”I thought people were around each other but mine was completely alone. So I was imagining it in my head what the characters sound like and their responses.”
Sending him a message on Facebook, Swift wrote: ‘Kevin I’m so sorry but I won’t be able to make it to your prom. But I was wondering, the ACM Awards are coming up. Would you be my date?’ According to Philly.com Kevin was receiving treatment for his leukaemia at the time but, speaking to the Philadelphia Inquirer, he stated: ‘Obviously I said yes. The ACM Awards is a lot better than the senior prom.’ He will fly to Las Vegas on April 1st (2012).
Kevin was first diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia when he was thirteen and he is now fighting it for a second time, after winning his battle in April 2010. It was his sister Victoria who had the idea for him to have a famous date for his prom, setting up a Facebook page which attracted 90,000 members. Since, Victoria has written on the page: ‘Taylor got back to us. She is unable to attend Kevin’s prom, although did one better – invited Kevin to be her date to the Academy of Country Music Awards! Thank you so so so so so much! The Mcguire family could never show how grateful we are to all of you! We have won in more than one way.. we got Taylor to take Kevin on a date, and we have made so many good friends along the way!’
Taylor Swift herself is nominated six times at the event which will take place on Sunday 1st April 2012.

The Mean hitmaker has dated stars like Joe Jonas, Taylor Lautner, Jake Gyllenhaal and John Mayer and admits her love for all sorts of guys gives her pals headaches.
She says, “I’m random. There’s no way to predict a pattern. That’s what my friends tell me.”
But she’s convinced her non-fussy outlook on romance is a good thing: “It sets the bar low for the future – you never know where it’s gonna go.”
The trio each voice characters in the highly-anticipated Dr. Seuss film and, as part of their commitment to promote the benefits of literacy, country singer Swift, Efron and White have shot a new campaign for the National Education Association’s Read Across America Day on 2 March (12).
The Hangover star Ed Helms has also signed up to help.
In the new ad each star recites one line from a wacky poem to encourage kids to read more.
Mean hitmaker Swift has been a longtime education advocate – she recently donated 14,000 books to the Nashville Public Library in Tennessee.
The boy wizard franchise’s eighth and final film, Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows: Part 2, will compete against The Smurfs, The Muppets and Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked for Favorite Movie, while Radcliffe will face off against Johnny Depp (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides), Jim Carrey (Mr. Popper’s Penguins) and Adam Sandler (Jack & Jill).
Radcliffe’s Potter co-star Emma Watson is shortlisted for Favorite Movie Actress alongside Kristen Stewart (The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1), Amy Adams (The Muppets) and Sofia Vergara (The Smurfs), while Depp (Rango) and Perry (The Smurfs) have earned nods for Favorite Voice from an Animated Movie.
Perry is also a force to be reckoned with in the music categories – she’ll battle for Favorite Female Singer against Swift, Lady Gaga and Selena Gomez, and her hit single Firework will go up against Gaga’s Born This Way, Swift’s Sparks Fly and Party Rock Anthem by Lmfao.
Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars, Usher and country star Toby Keith are all nominated for Favorite Male Singer.
Gomez and Miranda Cosgrove have landed nods for Favorite TV Actress and Favorite TV Show for Wizards of Waverly Place and iCarly, respectively, while comedian Tim Allen and Modern Family’s Ty Burrell are in the running for Favorite TV Actor.

The 22-year-old singer – who has dated stars including Taylor Lautner, Jake Gyllenhaal and Joe Jonas – will always be inspired by her relationships and is fascinated by how they change.
She said: “I think that love is always going to be a huge theme in what I write about just because there are no two similar relationships, there are no two times that you feel love the same way or hurt the same way or [feel] rejection in the same way. It’s all different and I’m fascinated by that.
“I really love to go back to human interaction and the way we make each other feel. But that at 22 is different than it was at 18 or 19 when I made my last album and 16 and 17 when I made ‘Fearless’. As you grow, you change in the way you process emotion.”
Taylor is currently working on the follow up to her 2010 album ‘Speak Now’ and though her record label bosses are pleased with what she has done so far, she can’t help but keep pushing herself further.
She told MTV News: “So far, I’ve been writing so much in the last year and the label keeps telling me, ‘All right, we’re finished; all right, we’re satisfied; OK, this is done now.’ And then I just keep writing and I keep turning it in in different versions
“I’m going to work on it until I literally have zero time left to work on it, because I’m having so much fun working on this album.”
The video was introduced by Swift and features scenes of Taylor walking through a wintery forest, whilst Joy and John Paul of The Civil Wars are pictured by a blazing fire in a remote cottage. The verses are led by Taylor, but the voices of The Civil Wars are heard in harmony with hers in the chorus, with the lyrics “Just close your eyes / the sun is going down / you’ll be alright, no one can hurt you now / come morning light / you’ll be safe and sound.” Hunger Games is scheduled for release in March this year and stars Josh Hutcherson, Jennifer Lawrence and Liam Hemsworth.
Taylor Swift walked away from Sunday’s ceremony with two Grammy Awards to add to the four that she won back in 2010. She landed the Best Country Solo Performance for ‘Mean’ and Best Country Song for the same track. However, she missed out on Best Country Album though; that accolade went to Lady Antebellum for their album ‘Own the Night.’ The Civil Wars found success in the Folk category, winning Best Folk Album for their debut long-player Barton Hollow. They also showed their crossover appeal, by winning Best Country Duo / Group Performance. Taylor Swift also performed at the ceremony and introduced a tribute to the legendary country star Glen Campbell, who will shortly be retiring from his music career after being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.

Accepting her award, she thanked the audience, saying that she found it “unbelievable” and added “I am so happy right now.” She also jokingly thanked everyone in the audience that clapped when she won. This was perhaps a reference to the time that Kanye West disrupted her VMA win in 2009. When Taylor won the award for Best Female Video in 2009, her acceptance speech was interrupted by Kanye West, who took Swift’s microphone from her, and said “Yo Taylor, I’m really happy for you, I’ll let you finish, but Beyoncé has one of the best videos of all time. One of the best videos of all time!
Swift collected two awards at the pre-televised section of the awards event. Her album Speak Now is also nominated for Best Country Album. Adele has won Best Short Form Music Video, for ‘Rolling in the Deep’ and Best Pop Vocal Album for 21.
